Day 4 – Create, Bake, & Make

Today my recommendation is to create, bake, and make.  This could also be expressed in sowing, painting, writing, planting, or building. Yesterday we baked cookies, and today we are frosting them. Yesterday we all painted birdhouses. Today we are baking brownies and creating a video together (This morning I also cut and styled my own hair :).

The Bible says, “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works.” This applies broadly to our life calling, ministry, and work, but it also applies to everything good that we do. There is something about being created in the image of our Creator where we are meant to create things as well. It is life-giving.  It is not only life-giving to us, but it can be life-giving to others as well.

It may be complicated to create, make, or bake something for someone else right now, but if you are able to do it, it could be a great blessing to them. There is a story in Acts 9 of a woman named Tabitha, also known as Dorcas.  When she passed away, everyone gathered around to show the things that she had made for them.  Our lives become a platform for the good news when we are able to do something for someone else out of the kindness of our heart.

Let me encourage you to create, bake, and make because it will be life-giving to you, and if you can figure out a way to create, bake, and make it for somebody else, then it will be life-giving to others. Sow something. Write a song. Mail a homemade card. Paint something to give away. Do it, and bring life to others as well as to you.
