Day 3 - Make the place your living/working a place you want to be

Our family has been spending a lot
more time around the dinner table, not just in the last couple of days but in
the last couple of weeks. Our youth pastor recently sent out a list of
questions, “52 Family Dinner Discussions.” Some of them are more serious others
are just fun. Let me share with you last
night's question, “if you were to jump off a tall building and safely land in a
pool of soft food, what would it be?” It
was fun to hear everyone's answers, “marshmellows,” “chocolate fondue,” “mac n'
cheese,” “Jello.” (What's yours?) What's been nice about these discussions is
that after we have cleared the table an set it up is that we have a focus to
talk about.
I have been thinking about “what
makes the place you are at a place you want to be?” A lot of time if we are at
home, we want to declutter and reorganize.
If we are at the office, we want
to clear our desk and focus our attention on the task at hand. But often what
helps us most is the condition of our heart. Proverbs 4:23 says, “Above all
else, guard your heart, for it is the well-spring of life.”
Whatever we are doing today,
whether we are around the home or going to work, here is my encouragement,
“guard your heart.” What would that look
like? Maybe you need to declutter your emotions or refocus your thoughts. Life flows from the heart. Focus on what you
are doing. Realize that this time is a
gift to you from God. God wants to do
things in your heart during this time. Thank Him for the task at hand. And yes, if you want to clean up your home
and reorganize a bit, then this might be the right time to do it.
Let's make the place where we are
at a place that we want to be by changing our focus and refocusing our hearts!
